Please find below the steps to move your model/data/story from quality or any SAC environment to production

  1. Login to your SAC tenant.
  2. Navigate to the Transport menu at the bottom of the left-hand navigation bar- Transport > Export

3. Select the “+” in the menu bar

4. Search for the model you will be exporting.

5. Hold the CTRL key and select the checkbox next to the model you want to export.- This will help you in selecting only the model and not all other objects related to it.

If you want the connected objects to also transport then ignore holding the CTRL, you can directly click the checkbox.

6. Select the Data column checkbox. This ensures the data comes with the export.

7. Select “Next” at the bottom of the screen

8. Enter the necessary data:
Name: Example could be PROJECT_DATA_ONLY_YYYYMMDD
Description: Anything you choose to briefly describe the export
Details: Any details you wish to add to further explain the export

9. In the Sharing section of the page, select the “+” sign on the right.

10. In the “Systems” field, enter the root URL for the destination system.

11. In the “Access” field, make sure View, Import, and Edit are all selected and included

12. Select the “Add” button and Select the “OK”.

13. The Destinations pop-up box will disappear and take you back to the initial Package properties screen. Select “Next” at the bottom of the screen and Select “Export” in the bottom right of the Package Overview screen

This was how you exported data from your source system of SAC. Now, let's understand how you import data into the destination system.

  1. Login to SAC destination-production
  2. Navigate to the Transport menu at the bottom of the left-hand navigation bar and Select Import
  3. Select the name of the object you just exported. Do not select the checkbox to the left; simply select the object's name.
NOTE: Depending on the size of the content of the export, it can take a little time to complete fully. Once the export is ready, you will find it in the Import screen.
  4. A pop-up will appear. Select “Import Options” on the top left of the pop-up, go to overwrite preferences, and choose based on your requirements

a. If you do not want to overwrite data or any objects choose option 1

b. If you want only data should be overwritten then choose option 2, in this case, the file will be used the same just the data will be overwritten.

c. If you want completely new file and all data should be transported then choose option3, it will overwrite both objects as well as data.

5. Select “Import” at the bottom right of the screen.

6. Once the import is successful, it will show that status in the Import screen next to the object. Depending on the size of the content, it could take a bit of time.

That was it from this transport tutorial in SAP ANALYTICS CLOUD. Hope it will be useful for the readers :)
